If voted to power, CPI to give pension to farmers

BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has given top priority to agriculture in its election manifesto which was released by the party leaders here on Saturday.

If the CPI voted to power, it will introduce a pension scheme for farmers as soon as they reach at the age of sixty. The party targeted to irrigate 50 per cent of farm land within five year and to provide justified prices to the farmers on their agricultural produces.

The party promised to provide all facilities available under the Central Government’s rules and regulations. It would give emphasis on food processing industries and cottage industries in stead of welcoming big industries.
