CPM dubs Union Budget anti-people

BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday staged demonstration in front of the Railway Station here protesting the Union Budget which allegedly favours corporate houses.

Party’s State leaders like Suresh Panigrahy, trade unionist Naba Mohanty and tribal leader Sal Marandi alleged that the budget is prepared to woo the corporate houses sidelining the interest of common people of the country.

The party said the BJP Government curtailed allocation for agriculture, rural development and social sector which showed the anti-people attitude of the Government. Even the Government did not show any interest to allocate for effective implementation of MNREGA and Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) which provides employment and house respectively for poor villagers, they added.

The party also criticised the Government for reducing subsidy on petroleum products which would indirectly impact on price rise. Centre’s positive attitude towards FDI would bring disaster to the economy of the country in a long term, the left leaders added.
