Anganwadi workers ‘Office Gherao’ from July 18


Berhampur: In an emergency meeting organized by the Ganjam branch of All Odisha Anganwadi Workers Association (AOAWA) have decided to come out with a mass agitation and blockade the office of the sub-collector on July 18 here.

The association condemned the actions intentionally taken against the Anganwadi workers in different places of the district. It demanded an impartial enquiry into the money laundering case of the Mahila Sanchayika Sangha of Sanakhemundi block and expressed serious concern over the involvement of an Anganwadi worker.

The AOAWA also set the demand of increasing the age limit of the workers from 60 and hundred percent promotion for the post of supervisor.

In other demand, the association advocated for the re-joining of the suspended Anganwadi workers of Patrapur block and to increase the payment for the nutritious food items keeping in the sense of price hike in the market.

Taking in account of these problems, the association will start mass agitation and blockade the office of the sub-collector here on July 18 this month.

District president of AOAWA Duryodhan Nahak and Secretary Mamata Khuntia were presented the Suggestion letter and discussed by the other members of the association.

Among others, state vice-president of AOAWA Bijaya Jena were present in the meeting to support the agitation.
