BHUBANESWAR: The minority leaders
of Odisha Minority Forum led by its president Dr Swarupananda Patra, Archbishop
John Barwa along with senior and youth leaders of the minority community met Governor
of Odisha SC Jamir at the Raj Bhawan here on Friday to press their issues
regarding problems of minority community in the State.
The minority leaders requested
the Governor to provide them a few patch of land in the city for the
construction of their worshipping place. There is no enough church in the city
for the congregation of the Christians for mass prayer and the existed churches
are over crowded, they added.
The forum demanded three acres of
land to build the churches and one and a half acres for burial ground as the
population of the community is increasing in the city. “If Ravi Shankar and
Mata Amrutanandamayee get vast land, why not they,” Patra told the media here.
