--Police to crack down on
unlicensed security agencies
BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate
Police took security guard Dipti Ranjan Pattanayak, the lone accused in the broad
daylight murder of business woman Bachansudha Pattanayak on September 11 in the
city, on 5-day remand from Tuesday.
The police had requested the Bhubaneswar
SDJM court to take the accused on remand to scour out more information from him
about the murder of the managing director of Madhukan Finance. After getting
permission from the court to take the security guard on remand, the police
would ask him about the involvement of more persons in the crime as the
victim’s family members have been alleging involvement of more than one person
in the crime.
“If needed, we can go for DNA test
of the blood stained shirt to know whether more persons were involved in the
crime or not,” said Commissioner Police Dr RP Sharma. Mobile call details of
the guard will be taken as evidence, he added.
The police would bring all witnesses
including Dipti Ranjan’s girlfriend, his relatives at Nimapada, the doctor who
treated him at Khurda and his friend at whose house he left his bicycle after
allegedly committing the murder under the ambit of the police investigation, police
sources said.
The case against Dipti Ranjan under
Laxmisagar police station would be reopened to examine the gravity of the case
and to confirm that the security guard had criminal antecedents or not, said
the top cop.
Meanwhile, Dr Sharma would hold a
discussion with the license bearing security agencies on September 19 regarding
choosing of good candidates as security guard and proper data of the guard they
would appoint in their agencies. The security agencies having no valid license
would face police ire, said the sources.
