BHUBANESWAR: Members of All Odisha
BPUT Association (AOBSA) on Monday staged dharna in front of the Raj Bhavan
demanding fulfillment of their eight-point charter of demands including a
special placement cell under the university.
Later they submitted memorandum to Employment
and Technical Education and Training (ETET) Minister Pratap Keshari Deb, Biju
Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) vice chancellor JK Satpathy and
Registrar of the university Mihir Ranjan Nayak to fulfill their demands. In the
memorandum, they said that all colleges under BPUT are giving fake campus placement
for which the students are suffering a lot. Therefore immediate action should
be taken to stop all those activities.
They also demanded the State
Government to run BPUT camp office here as around 60 colleges functioning in
and around the city. Besides, they stressed on fixed course fee for each college
under the university. “Due to excess fees, more than 10 students have committed
suicide within a year which is a matter of regret,” said association president
Arbinda Pradhan, adding, “If the State Government does not solve our problems,
we would take the issue to the streets.”
