BHUBANESWAR:
The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED) on Thursday
announced a hike of Rs 2 in the price of milk per litre. The hike will be
affected from February 15, said an official Press lease.
While OMFED has priced its double toned milk at
Rs 28 per litre, toned milk will be costing Rs 30 per litre. The money so
recovered from the hike will go directly to milk farmers in the State, said the
release.
Official sources said that out of the hiked Rs 2,
the dairy farmers would get Rs 1.75 paise while the Omfed’s share would only be
10 paise. The dairy cooperative society, unions and retailers would get only
five paise more. The Omfed sells milk at the cheapest rate in the country, the
official sources added.
