Series loot at Janpath Tower in city



BHUBANESWAR: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted articles with hard cash worth over Rs 30,000 by breaking the locks and gates of nine shops inside a shopping complex ‘Janpath Tower’ at Ashok Nagar here in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to Santosh Bishoyee, owner of a mobile service center inside the complex, the miscreants looted two mobile service centers, five drug stores, one book stall and an office of blue-chip company. “The burglars took about Rs 30,000 hard cash from the shops,” said Bishoyee, adding, “They are yet to estimate their own loss.” 

Out of nine, seven shops were situated at the basement, and the remaining two were at the ground floor of the building. The whole act of looting electronic gadgets from a shop was captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the mobile service center.

Police sources said, the faces of the culprits are covered and for that it would be tough to identify them. However, police have started their initial investigation.

The police are interrogating a security guard who was in duty when the burglary had taken place.
