Bank strike hit money transaction in Berhampur


Berhampur: On the bandh call from United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) in all over India on August 5, all the bank employees and officers of UFBU Berhampur Zonal Committee went on strike on Friday here.

UFBU has ten lakh bank employees and officers in all over India which has nine other bank unions went on strike demanding the fulfillment of 21 charter demand on Friday.

Common people of the city and nearby areas of the city were returned from the bank when they knew the news of bank strike. Transactions of money along with other bank works of the Government offices, private farms and business farms were hit by the strike.

Convener of UFBU Odisha State Unit Ganesh Chandra Mishra told that if the Government will not solve these demands, it would affect on the economy of the country. The common people of India will not get appropriate banking facilities, whereas the elite people and industrialists of India and abroad are showing supremacy in banking industry. He lamented that if these trend continue, the indigenous value of the banking industry will gradually decrease.

More than 4,000 branches in Odisha of different bank were closed due to the strike call by bank employees and officers on Friday.

“We have called a one day strike ion all over India demanding the fulfillment of 21 charter demand. Government is doing conspiracy by allowing the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Indian banking sector which will help the industrialists and elites of the society”, said Berhampur SBI Employees Union Krushna Chandra Padhy.

“We demand compassionate appointment for the family members of the bank employees and pension system in all the banks of SBI like government sector”, he added.
