Broad day light firing in Berhampur, claims 1


Berhampur: Taking into old rivalry, a youth shot at Dharmanagar’s Haridakhandi square here on Monday by a person of the same area in a broad day light in the city.

According to the police, Tarini Patra and Tukuna Rout both have criminal records before. Tarini had attacked Tukuna’s brother and caused severe injury, for which Tarini was caught by police and forwarded to juvenile court as he was under eighteen. This incident fuelled anger in Tukuna for taking revenge of his brother’s half murder incident. After Tarini’s return from jail, Tukuna was in the search of an opportunity to take revenge.

On the day of incident, Tukuna came to a Pan shop near Haridakhandi square at Dharmanagar, where Tarini was talking with a friend. Tukuna started arguing with him, then fired him pointing to his lower chest following a few minutes clash with each other.

Tarini rushed to MKCG medical, but after few hours, he was declared dead while the treatment was going on.This was the outburst of anger of old rivalry between the victim Tarini and accused Tukuna, said SDPO of Berhampur Sarat Chandra Mahapatra. The Badabazaar police are looking into the matter and started enquiry into the case. The accused Tukuna was arrested by the police on Monday after the incident.
