Firing on constable in city: Two arrested from Nagpur



BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the attack on a businessmen and firing on a constable near Master Canteen Chhak here. A special team of police has nabbed the culprits from Nagpur, sources said.

The two persons were identified as Gyana Mohapatra and Jitu Palai whom the police team is bringing back to the city. Efforts are on to nab the culprits hiding somewhere outside the State. The two were involved in many other criminal offences before, the police sources said.    

Recently, the police had arrested a person and forwarded to the court in connection with the case.

Notably, the goons fired at Constable Suklal Murmu when he intervened while they were trying to snatch the necklace of businessman Debabrata Kar’s wife outside a jewellery showroom at Master Canteen area here on March 16. Kar was also injured in the incident.
