Six Maoists including a most wanted surrender in Koraput



JEYPORE: Six Maoists including a hardcore Maoist surrendered before the BSF (Koraput) DIG Sumer Singh here, police sources said on Thursday. The hardcore Maoist was the commander of militia dalam and was active in Maoist activities during last twelve years, they said.

He was identified as Dubugu alias Duburu Kanta (40), Bariabhata village under Bandhugaon police station in the district surrendered on March 31, 2013. He used to carry a 12 bore Single Barrel Breach Loaded (SBBL) gun and two grenades.

Dubugu was on the most wanted list of Bandhugaon police due to his involvement in Maoist activities and non bailable warrant was pending against him in connection with Bandhugaon police. He was Commander of Ghenua Bahini of three gram panchayats of Garidi, Kutrabeda and Jagaguda.

The others were Jiana Meleka (36), Ganga Meleka (35), Kapilash Kando (30), Gurunath Khara (30) and Surendra Khara (28) of Palka village under Bandhugaon police station surrendered before the BSF DIG on Thursday.

“All six of them are repentant of their past deeds and voluntarily have surrendered to start a new life,” said DIG Singh.
