Armed assailants on prowl, builder shot dead in city

BHUBANESWAR: In a daring act, three unidentified armed miscreants gunned down a builder of IRC Village under Nayapalli police station in the city on Monday morning and fled from the spot by creating terror in the street.

On the fateful day, Kalingaputra Real Estate and Developers managing director Krushna Chandra Nayak was returning from Kalinga Putra Security Services (KPSS) office at N1 lane of IRC Village to his residence at N3 lane with KPSS assistant security supervisor Sabyasachi Jena in a bike. In the middle of the road near the Post Office, three miscreants came in a Pulsar bike and intercepted Nayak’s motorcycle. When the duo stopped, the armed assailants continuously fired at the builder.

According to Jena, the goons didn’t listen anything and shot at before understanding the matter. When nobody came to help the builder, the security personnel called the police to take Nayak to the hospital.

The builder was rushed to a private hospital here where he was declared dead. He received three bullets, two in the lower abdomen of right side of the body and another in the left lower abdomen, said the doctors.

Meanwhile, Nayak’s son Dhananjay alleged that S Das and his aides killed his father. Stating the reason, he said that his father had given Rs 20 lakh to Das for purchasing of a plot at N4 lane. But during the process, they could not give time as they were sent to jail in a murder case. When they returned from the jail, they went to Das and asked the land. Das refused to give land and the money he had taken from the father and son duo.

The rivalry increased between Nayak and Das. Three days back, Nayak’s son alleged, the same persons had come to his father’s office and threatened him to kill.

“The incident happened due to previous enmity over land dispute. We are investigating into the matter. We will nab the culprits very soon,” said DCP Nitinjit Singh.
