Students demand BPUT branch office in city

BHUBANESWAR: Students of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) on Thursday staged demonstration in front of the State Assembly here demanding set up of a branch office of the university at Gandamunda in the capital city.

Members of the BPUT Students’ Association (BSA) blocked the road by torching tyres at the Lower PMG protesting the BPUT authorities for failing in fulfilling the demands of technical students.

The students also demanded the State Government for setting up of central placement cell of the university to help students to get employment and to conduct teachers’ eligibility test to improve quality of education. “If the Government fails to fulfill our demands, we will go for indefinite strike across the State,” said BSA president Shakti Rath.
