Dreaded Maoist Sandhya surrendered



JEYPORE: Dreaded Maoist and Divisional Committee Member of Koraput Debe Padiami alias Sandhya on Saturday surrendered before South-Western Range IG Yashwant Jethwa and Koraput SP. 

Sandhya, wife of top Maoist leader Tela Anil Kumar alias Chandu who was arrested on February 26, belonged to Kurub Namelguda under Korukonda block in Malkangiri district. She joined as Maoist in 1997 in Kalimela Dalam.   

The Maoist leader was involved in a number of violent acts including the loot of arms from the Koraput armoury, R Udayagiri jail break and attack on the CRPF camp at Damanjodi, police said.

She was carrying a cash award of Rs 5 lakh on her head. Prior to her surrender, she was the member of Malkangiri-Koraput Divisional Committee and presently heading the Gupteswar Maoist wing in Koraput district.
