BHUBANESWAR:
The Odisha State SC/ST Youth and Students’ Council urged the State Government
to work out on the recommendation by SC Commission chairman PL Punia to arrest
Pradeep Maharathy and administrative officers and to cancel the licenses of
doctors involved in the Pipili case.
The council informed in a press note
that exploitation and attack on dalit people in the State are on the rise.
Punia expressed grave concern over the attack on the dalits and recommended the
Centre and the State Government to take proper action against defaulters of the
SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
Punia in his earlier visit to the
State for investigation into dalit atrocity cases, he rued over doctors’
recklessness in the case of a dalit girl of Pipili Babina Behera, politicians
hand and police inaction in the matter.

Sethy urged the Government to take sincere action against the culprits of the
Pipili case and to implement the recommendation of the SC Commission
immediately.
