MLA Jagabandhu murder case: Home Dept announces Rs 5 lakh award for informer


BHUBANESWAR: Home department on Wednesday announced award of Rs 5 lakh for the informer in Umerkote MLA Jagabandhu Majhi murder case. Last year on September 24, MLA Majhi and his PSO were shot dead by unidentified gunmen at village Gona under the jurisdiction of Raighar police station.
After the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered a Crime Branch probe into the broad daylight murder of MLA Majhi. Seven months have already passed, whereas Crime Branch could not trace out the culprits involved in the matter.
It may be noted that on the day of the incident, MLA Majhi had gone to Gona to attend a function to distribute forest land Records of Rights (ROR) to the beneficiaries of the village. While the function was going on, at about 12.45 pm three unidentified gunmen who were previously hiding inside the crowd suddenly opened fired at the PSO and then the MLA. The duo died on the spot.
