BHUBANESWAR:
Employees of India’s
premier news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) here struck work on Friday as
part of a country-wide strike called by their union in protest against the
inordinate delay in implementation of Justice G R Majithia Wage Board
recommendations for revision of their pay-scale which had been submitted way
back in December, 2010.
The protesters lamented that the
recommendations were yet to be implemented though the Central Government had
also approved the report and issued a notification in this regard in November,
2011. They said that their pay-scale has not been revised for last 13 years.
They were facing a lot of difficulty with meager salary in these days of
spiraling price and high inflation.
The employees, who had held
several demonstrations and dharna all over the country since last year to press
their demands, also threatened to resort to an indefinite strike if their
salary is not hiked as per the Wage Board recommendations.
