Irregularities in crop loss compensation distribution

Irregularities in crop loss compensation distribution

Ganjam: Due to untimely rain Ganjam District noticed aheavy crop loss in last the last Kharif season. To help the farmers, the State Government sanctioned compensation money to some districts. This process is also going on in Ganjam district. But some farmers claimed irregularities in compensation money distribution in some areas here.

Irregularities in recognizing of sharecroppers, issuing of compensation in the name of dead persons created dissatisfaction among the farmers of newly formed Ganjam Tehsil area.

According to the guidelines of Central Government, a committee should be formed and the compensation money will be distributed in the direction of that committee. But this rule is not properly implemented in the Revenue Circle of Haripur Burudi, though a committee has already been formed claimed the local farmer bodies.

The share croppers are the beneficiaries of this compensation, but the rule is violated. Compensation money are issued in the name of previous Patta holders of the land, who sold the land before claimed the farmers.

The major problem is that the banks are not receiving cheques from the banks from the farmers, because of balance short in the bank account of Ganjam Tehsildar. Andhra Bank is not receiving those cheques which are consisting of mistakes of names of the farmers.

Krushak Bichar Manch and Manabika Adhikar Suraksha Manch cautioned that if the administration will not take any steps to solve this problem before June 15, the farmers will go to High court.
