BHUBANESWAR: As many as 12 people
were killed in lightning in three districts Khurda, Cuttack and Sundargarh on
Monday afternoon. Khurda (6 persons) and Cuttack (5 persons) have witnessed
more casualties than Sundargarh.
According to reports, two people of
Kusamati village under Jatani police station limits in Khurda district and four
people at Kaipadar in the district died when lightning struck them on Monday afternoon.
Similarly, one person of Kochila
Nuagan village, two persons of Badasamantarapur village and one person of
Laxmanapur village under Choudwar police station limits in Cuttack district
were also killed. A woman in Jagatpur on the outskirts of Cuttack city became
the prey of lightning too.
The last one was killed in Jurei
Kalopada village under Talasara police station limits in Sundargarh district,
said the sources.
