Bachansudha murder case: No more people involved in Bachan’s murder, says Report

BHUBANESWAR: Report of psychoanalysis test on security guard Dipti Ranjan Patnaik, who was the lone accused in broad-day light murder of businesswoman Bachansudha Pattanayak on September 11 at Rasulgarh in the city, confirmed that only Dipti had killed the elderly women, said Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma here on Tuesday.

Dr Sharma while revealing the findings of the report said the security guard had killed the business woman. No more people were involved in the case according to the report, he added.

The Commissioner said that the report will help them in collecting more evidences in the murder case. Besides, they have interrogated Dipti’s friends and family members to get more information about him, he added.

The Commissionerate Police got the report on Monday night and it was disclosed to media on Tuesday morning. The test was conducted by Dr Asha Shrivastav, a senior psychologist and head of Forensic Psychology department of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Delhi, who is also working for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The interrogation process had taken around seven hours starting from 9 am on September 19.

During the marathon interrogation held at the Commissionerate police headquarters, the security guard was asked crime-related questions in order to find possible involvement of more persons in the murder. He was quizzed by the expert in an isolated room to examine the mental status of the accused.

“We have substantial material evidence against the accused to produce before the court,” said Dr Sharma.

Notably, Dipti was produced before the SDJM court here on Monday after his five-day remand ended on Sunday. He was sent to the Jharpada jail on Monday.
