Student dies in mishap: Irate mob ransacks police station in Nayagarh



NAYAGARH: Following the death of a school student in road accident, the angry mob ransacked local police station, torched a truck that run over the boy and damaged a fire tender vehicle in Nayagarh district, police said.

According to reports, the accident occurred on Tuesday morning when the victim Kadam Malick, an 8th standard student of Brajendra High School, was run over by a truck. The boy was returning home to Sinduria village after attending classes.

When the fire tender vehicle was coming to the spot to douse the fire of the truck, the irate mob damaged it along with a police van. Even the locals entered into the Sadar police station here and ransacked the office along with Inspector-in-charge’s office.

Later the angry mob blocked the National Highway-224 demanding compensation for the deceased’s family.

Police rushed to the spot to control the situation and resorted to lathi charge when the situation aggravated, police sources said. The situation is now under control and police personnel were deployed at the spot to keep eye on the situation, it added.
