BHUBANESWAR: Civil Society members under a banner of the
Odisha Lokayukta Abhijan (OLA) urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday to
circulate the official draft bill ‘Odisha
Lokayukta Bill’ for a public debate before getting it enacted in the State Legislative
Assembly.
The OLA members said the bill
will be tabled and passed in the forthcoming Assembly session. However, the
people of the State are yet in dark about the contents of the draft bill
proposed by the State Government.
A draft framework on the bill in a consultation organised by the civil
society here on Saturday was also submitted to the Chief Minister and the Chief
Secretary.
The OLA members said the participants
in the consultation unanimously and fervently wanted that the State Government should
put the official draft of the Lokayukta Bill in public domain including the
website for enabling the people at large to deliberate on it and to submit
their constructive suggestions for making the proposed bill further refined and
foolproof.
