Sudhir Sabat nominated as state convener of CACL


Berhampur: Director of the Indian Society for Rural Development (ISRD) and an eminent child rights activist Sudhir Sabat has been conferred with the State Convener ship of Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL). He was elected unanimously in a State meeting at Bhubaneswar by the activists who are working on child rights and campaigning against child labour.

Sabat, the National Youth Award winner and a former students’ union president of Berhampur University also closely associated with different state and national level forums. In 1986 Sri Sabat formed ISRD, through which he has rendered commendable service to educationally backward southern districts. At present he is discharging his responsibilities as State Convener of CHILDLINE and as Coordinator of Bharat Gyan Bigyan Samiti (BGVS).

Soon after taking office as state convener of CACL Sri Sabat said that it is now first and foremost duty to advocate and lobby at different levels for cent percent implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act. Sabat, concluded by stating that by collective measures he will leave no stone unturned to bring necessary changes in the Child Labour Prohibition & Regulatory Act.  .
