--Except Dhinkia, election will be held all over the State
BHUBANESWAR: The State Government declared that they are ready for the coming Panchayati Raj election as the Panchayati Raj Department has issued a Gazette notification on Friday in the State Assembly. The notification was sent to the Chief Election Commissioner of the State to issue the code and conduct for the coming three-tier election.
Parliamentary Affairs minister Raghunath Mohanty, on behalf of Panchayati Raj minister Maheswar Mohanty, said in a special statement that in every five year duration the three-tier election is held at the level of Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad for the post of Ward Member, Sarapanch, Samiti Member and Zilla Parishad member in Panchayati Raj system. Last election was held on the month of February and March 2007, whereas the duration of the elected representatives finish on the coming March 2012. Before that, the preparation for election process has been completed, added the Minister.
Minister further said the election in the Panchayats under Dunguripali block for the posts of Sarapanch is under a court dispute as before Subarnapur Collector had issued a notification regarding reservation for the election of Sarapanch. But one Balamukund Das have appealed to the High Court challenging the reservation, for which HC has taken the case into consideration and the hearing will come on January 2. Excluding Dhinkia Panchayat of Jagatsinghpur district, PRI poll will be held all over the State, minister said.
