BHUBANESWAR: If you have any corruption-related complaints against any corrupted officers or public servant, but due to lack of knowledge you are remaining silent, then call to a helpline number 0674-2555525 based in the capital city and get legal help and consultation freely without any hassle, declared Transparency International (TI) Odisha chapter while launching Advocacy and Legal Advice Centre (ALAC) helpline here on Sunday.
Inaugurating the helpline, High Court judge Indrajeet Mohanty said the people of the country have a strong faith on judiciary because of its transparency of procedure, open hearing in the court and every people have the right to challenge on the hearing in upper level, which is not happening everywhere. “So transparency of procedure is the key to check corruption in any sector,” he added.
In a vision to create a corruption-free India, so that the poor do not loose their voice to corruption, the ALAC helpline will create ray of hope for the common people, the TI asserted. “It will provide counseling and legal advice after assessing the complainant and complaint and in the final it will ensure that the complainant’s complain is properly addressed,” said ALAC director RN Jha.
“ALAC helpline is our new initiative which provides free information, legal advice and assistance to witnesses and victims of corruption,” said Transparency International Odisha chapter chairman Bimalendu Mohanty adding, “It not only provides information about various Government schemes and consultation but also help them who wish to learn about legal mechanisms, procedures and policy to follow and wish agencies to turn to them.”
Among others, TI India chairman PS Bawa, Eastern Media chairman Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, State Information Commissioner Jagadananda and TI Odisha secretary RB Patnaik were present in the launching ceremony of ALAC.
