PURI: Following the allegation of assaulting a Canadian national inside the
Jagannath temple here on Friday, another devotee from West Bengal alleged that
he was attacked by an aide of a servitor in the premises of the temple on
Saturday.
The Bengali devotee was identified
as Mihir Parakia. He was thrashed by an aide of a servitor when he wanted to
touch a deity in the premises of the temple. The Bengali devotee later lodged a
complaint against the attacker who was arrested by the Sreemandir police.
When contacted Chief Administrator
of the temple Arabind Padhee, he said that strong action will be taken against
the accused according to the Shri Jagannath Temple (Administration) Act 1955.
Notably, a Canadian national Borendra
Sanyal who is originally from a Hindu family of Bangladesh on Friday lodged a
complaint with the Puri police alleging that he was assaulted by a servitor
inside the Jagannath Temple.
