Journalists protest scribe’s murder in Ganjam



BHUBANESWAR: Journalists working in different media houses in the city on Wednesday unitedly protested the brutal murder of young journalist Tarun Kumar Acharya near Khallikote police station in Ganjam district on Tuesday night. 

The journalists staged demonstration in front of the State Secretariat flaunting placards demanding immediate arrest of the accused involved in the murder case. They also demanded compensation to the family members of the deceased.  

The mediapersons condemning the heinous attack said the State Government should protect the representatives of the fourth pillar of the Constitution. Criticising the police the scribes said, “It is very unfortunate that the journalist was killed near the police station.”

Meanwhile, different journalists unions in Ganjam and other parts of the State protested the murder of Acharya. National Union of Journalists (NUJ) vice president Prasanna Mohanty demanded Crime Branch probe into the murder of the scribe.
