Man throws acid on first wife in Malkangiri



MALKANGIRI: In a tragic incident, a woman suffered severe burns when her first husband attacked her with acid in Malkangiri district on Tuesday. The police have started a manhunt to nab the culprit who is absconding. 
 
According to reports, the woman identified as Shankari Baidya of MV-46 got married to Krupasindhu Sarkar, a driver in profession, of MV-47 in the district 12 years ago. They had two children. After a disturbance, the couple got separated one and a half years ago. Then Shankari got married to Basudev Baidya of Umerkote in Nabarangpur district lived with her children. 

Ten days ago, Krupasindhu called Shankari over phone to meet her along with children. She went to her first husband’s place. After few minutes’ discussion, they had an altercation over an issue related to children. Irate Krupasindhu brought acid from a vehicle battery and threw on Shankari’s face. 

The victim immediately went to the police station and told everything about the incident. With the help of the police, she was admitted in a Government medical at Malkangiri. Condition of the victim was stable, official sources said.
