Students in long queues in front of CHSE office |
BHUBANESWAR: Dissatisfied over ‘faulty’ evaluation
of the Plus II answer papers, parents of affected students might move to the
Odisha High Court against the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) to
challenge the poor marks awarded to their children, sources said.
Most of the guardians of the students, who came to
the council’s head office here to apply for rechecking of Plus II answer papers,
demanded a complete revaluation of answer sheets instead of just re-addition.
Ashok Sahu, father of a student, said, “If the CHSE
does not pay heed to our demand, we will go to High Court.” Another parent Prahalad
Dixit of Bhadrak said his son has got good marks in other subjects but got only
two marks in Physics and seven in Mathematics which is unbelievable. “If my son
fails to get any additional mark in re-addition process, I’ll file a petition
against CHSE in the High Court praying for re-evaluation,” Dixit added.
When contacted, CHSE chairman Dr Basudeb Chhatoi said
they don’t have any provision in Council’s statutes for revaluation of papers. But
they will definitely abide by the High Court order if it accepts the petition
and directs them for a revaluation, Dr Chhatoi added.
Meanwhile, the council found out only nine
applications of Plus II students who have secured above 70 per cent marks in
other subjects and got single digit marks in one or two papers out of 6,500
applications filed for re-addition in three days. “We checked and found no
error in the re-addition in these papers,” said Dr Chhatoi.
The chairman also advised the students to apply from
their colleges after downloading the re-addition form from the council’s
website. The students have several other options to apply for re-addition
instead of coming to the head office and standing in long queues here waiting
for their turn under the scorching heat of summer, he added.
