CPM to set up ‘Left & Democratic Front’

BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will set up a platform ‘Left and Democratic Front’ to fight against capitalism and imperialism and work for common people in the country, said the Odisha State Committee secretary of CPI (M) Janardan Pati at a Press meet here on Wednesday.

In a recently ended 20th party congress, which was held in Kerala, the party decided to set up the front which will create movement against Government’s apathy towards poor farmers, labourers, artisans, dalits, tribals and minorities living in the country.

The front will raise voice against farmer suicide, price rise and inflation, unemployment, corruption and criminalisation of politics. It also protests the neo-liberal policy pursued by imperialistic foreign countries. “Our new front will not work for election purpose, but for people’s interest. It will create mass movement demanding land, food, PDS system, adequate wage, employment, medical facility, education and other amenities for the common people of the country,” said Pati.

Regarding Odisha State, Pati said the Government failed to address the issue of the dalits and tribals. Still farmers and labourers are living in a miserable condition, he added. “Our new front will take up the issue and start mass movement for the development of the State,” Pati said.
