BHUBANESWAR:
The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested Deepak Dwivedi who was the
mastermind behind the extortion call to Dr Satya Ranjan Samal, a dental surgeon
of a private hospital in the city, demanding Rs 10 lakh in the name of
gangsters.
Samal, a resident of Mahanadi
Vihar in Cuttack, said some people
called him over phone demanding Rs 10 lakh and threatening that if he failed to
pay the money, they would abduct and kill him. This had left the doctor and his
family in a state of horror that’s why he had urged the police to give
protection to his family.
He had lodged a complaint at the
Capital police station on Sunday and then the police arrested Deepak from
Kharavelnagar area in the city on Wednesday.
Before, the doctor had named the
caller as one Deepak Dwivedi who was once forwarded to the court by the police.
Deepak is a member of Ruman gang, six members of which were recently arrested
by the Commissionerate police along with the gang leader.
