BRPL Company affected people demands justice



BHUBANESWAR: The affected people of the Kanpur dam and Brahmani River Pellet Limited (BRPL) on Monday demanded justice from the State Government. In a press meet, affected people’s organisation Kendujhar Banchao Abhiyan leaders said that the displaced people are yet to get full compensation from the company.

The coordinator of the campaign Pratap Sahu said the BRPL Company would use heavy amount of the Baitarani’s water to transport its raw materials to Paradip through slurry pipe which not only harmful for the farmers but also for the transporters and labourers who were depending on the company.

They also pointed out that the Government has increased the height of the dam at Keonjhar district to fulfill the needs of water of the company which is affecting the farmlands of the areas. “If the Government does not take immediate step to solve the problems of the common people of the area, they would take it to the streets,” said Sahu.
