Process for selection of State BJP chief begins

BHUBANESWAR: The process for selection of State BJP chief has been started from Thursday. BJP national general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar and party Odisha-in-charge Santosh Gangwar, who were appointed as the Central Observers for the purpose, arrived at the State office to discuss with the party leaders about the next State president.

On the first day, the Central Observers have started discussion with the party leaders about the appropriate candidates for the post of the State president. They took opinions from the executive body members in the central, State and district-level committees regarding the selection of the right candidate.

According to the sources, Kanak Vardhan Singhdeo, general secretary Basant Panda and Nayan Mohanty are on the race for the president post.

While present State BJP president Jual Oram said the president selection would be held in mutual understanding, otherwise there would be election. The Central Observers also followed the same principle to choose the candidate. They would finish the process within two days and would submit the names before the Central Executive to single out the name. “We would choose active workers, who can work for the party honestly,” said Tomar.

It may be noted that the term of Oram would be completed after a few days.
