NAYAGARH: Three persons were arrested in connection with the murder case of former Bhapur block chairman Gurubari Kanhar who was killed in front of Bhapur tehsil office here on Wednesday. The police arrested the persons from Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
They were identified as Prakash
Pradhan, Prashant Sahu and Bijay Jena of Nayagarh. When Kanhar was going in his
motorcycle, the three along with others came from the front side and forcefully
intercepted the bike blocking the road in front of Bhapur tehsil office. Then
they allegedly attacked Kanhar with sharp weapon. One Ramchandra Swain was
injured who was present at the spot.
Swain had identified two of the
miscreants as Prakash Pradhan and Benu Pradhan when the police asked him about
the miscreants as he was present over the spot. Political rivalry is stated to
be the cause behind the murder, while the investigation into the case is on, sources
said.
