Still many children from Gajapati allegedly kept in other States

PARLAKHEMUNDI: Though 18 children from Gajapati district were rescued by the State Government from Tamilnadu, still many children from south Odisha are allegedly kept in other States. The children are in distress in the States like Tamilnadu and Kerala, alleged the locals. The team, who had gone to Tirunelveli in Tamilnadu to bring 18 children from a church, handed over the children to their parents of Gumma block in the district on Saturday.

It may be noted that 20 days back, some organisations had taken the children from different places of the Gumma block by giving assurance to their parents to provide good education and amenities. But, the children were in distress in the church. When the local District Welfare Officer got information about the children, who were staying at a church in Tirunelveli, conducted a raid and rescued them with the help of Child Welfare Committee.

After getting information from the officers, a team from Odisha had gone there to bring the children. After their arrival at the Brahmpur railway station, the district administration received them and took them in a Swadhara home at Patikota village under Gosani block in the district on Friday. The officials handed over the children to their parents on Saturday.
