AITUC protests Govt for reducing PF interest rate

BHUBANESWAR: Protesting reduction in interest rate of Provident Fund (PF) from 9.5 per cent to 8.25 per cent, the members and workers of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) staged demonstration and a rally here on Monday. The decision will affect around 6, 58,000 labourers of Odisha, the members of the AITUC said.

The members of the AITUC led by its president Dutikrushna Panda staged demonstration in front of the PF office following a procession from its office to PF office in the city by flaunting placards bearing slogans against the Central Government’s decision. The members demanded the Government should rollback of the decision. Reduction in interest rate of PF was fixed by the Finance Ministry without any consultation which was condemned by the members and leaders of the trade union in the rally.

Among others, AITUC General Secretary Sauribandhu Kar, Secretary Kishore Jena, Jatindra Ray, Sura Jena were taken the lead of the rally.
