SP, CPM oppose center for neglecting Odisha in rail budget

BHUBANESWAR: Samajwadi Party State Committee and CPI (M) criticised the UPA Government for neglecting Odisha in Railway Budget 2012. Protesting center’s negligence, members of the CPI (M) party staged a demonstration at Jaydev Vihar Square here on Thursday.

The members of the party said the UPA Government proved its step-motherly attitude towards Odisha again. It was historical negligence of the Central Government against Odisha, the party said.

Workers of the party burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the agitation. The party also informed they will stage dharna in front of the Railway station here on March 17 protesting anti-Odisha budget..

Similarly, Samajwadi Party members also slammed the Government and said it is anti-people and anti-Odisha budget. State unit president of the party Rabi Behera said the Chief Minister should convene an all political party meeting to deliberate on the issue and take up the matter with the Prime Minister for redressal of injustice that is make to Odisha in the current railway budget.

He also said the hike of passenger fare will adversely affect the common people of the country. Odisha again betrayed in railway budget as it is too short of the expectation of the people of the State, he added.
