BJP farmer wing meets Guv on farmers’ issue


BHUBANESWAR: A delegation of the BJP Krushak Morcha led by its State president Maheswar Sahu submitted a memorandum to the President of India through Governor MC Bhandare here on Tuesday following a discussion with him on various problems of farmers in the State.

In their eleven-point charter of demands, the Morcha demanded the Government should provide compensation to the farmers of flood and drought hit areas, implement the Swaminathan Committee Report immediately, Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each farmer’s family who committed suicide, total waiver of agricultural loans from the farmers of the State and increasing of Minimum Support Price of cotton, paddy and maize.

Among others, State vice-president of the Morcha Rabinarayan Mahapatra, secretary Sarbashri Mangal Sahu, Samir Kumar Sahu, Bhadrak district president Sankarshan Jena and Adhiraj Nayak went with the delegation.
