Bank robbery bid in city foiled


BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate Police foiled a bank robbery bid by a gang of unidentified robbers in the Khandagiri branch of Bank of Baroda at Kolathia in the city on Thursday. Two police officers of local police station were attacked by the robbers while foiling the robbery attempt.

On a tip-off, the police officers of Khandagiri branch rushed to the Bank on Tuesday night. Face to face fight left two police officers injured, while the robbers managed to escape from the spot. Though the bank robbery could not be taken place, the robbers ransacked the bank and left away.

In the face to face scuffle, two police officers Sub-Inspector Padmacharan Mohanty and Chakradhar Patra of Khandagiri police station sustained injuries. The Commissionerate Police has started investigation into the matter.
