Gajapati land dispute: 5 injured in non tribal-tribal clash


PARLAKHEMUNDI: Land dispute in Gajapati district is becoming critical as five persons were injured in a clash between tribals and non-tribals at Nilakanthapur village under Kasinagar block in the district on Monday. Two platoons of police force were deployed in the sensitive areas, police said.

The incident was happened when the non-tribals of Laxmipur and Nilakanthapur village had gone to their cashew grove which is a disputed land. After getting information about the entry of non-tribals, a group of tribal people rushed to the orchard and attacked the opponents with sharp weapons. Five non-tribal people were injured in the clash and they were rushed to the sub-divisional hospital here.

According to the Parlakhemundi IIC Sukant Kumar Patra, two platoon police forces were deployed near the tension area. The situation is under control and the investigation is on, he added.
