Odisha’s first community newspaper to be published from Konark


BHUBANESWAR: First community newspaper of the State, ‘Namaskar’, will be published from Konark within first week of July. It will be published as fortnightly, informed noted social activist NA Shah Ansari on Tuesday.

Ansari said that there is a need of community newspaper in this locality to give voice to voiceless. After the discussion on different aspects of the community newspaper, the delegates agreed to publish it from the locality, he added.

According to Ansari, readers of the community newspaper would be its reporter and news boxes would be placed in each Gram Panchayat of Gop block to collect community reports. It will focus on rural issues and realities which would be edited by a team of rural women and five best rural reporters will be felicitated in each issue, he added.

More than 100 delegates from different rural villages of Konark and Gop area were congregated at Konark to discuss about the need of the newspaper at a place like Konark. Among others, noted Gandhian activist SA Safique and Journalist Basudev Mahapatra were present to guide the team.
