Anjali death case: Deceased’s bro demands CB inquiry

BHUBANESWAR: Alok Bhol, brother of deceased Anjali Rout (38) who was allegedly murdered by the family members inside her in-law’s house in Arbindanagar area under Chandrasekharpur police limits in city on November 19, demanded Crime Branch inquiry into the case at a Pressmeet here on Tuesday.

According to Bhol, his elder sister Anjali got married to Nalinikanta Rout (44), a typist in GED, in the year of 2000. He said that his sister’s in-laws had been torturing her since her marriage and that became violent when she didn’t agree to sell the house where they were living in.

Bhol alleged that son-in-law of the Rout family had brought mediator to discuss about the selling of the house, but Anjali protested. The family members of Nalinikanta killed her by strangulating her sister to death with the help of a rope, he stated.

“She rang me up three days ago before her death and described about the unbearable physical and mental torture meted out to her by her in-laws. Since she had an 11-year-old girl, I had appealed her not to take any extreme step and wait till my arrival. But before it was to happen, her in-laws killed my sister and gave it a shape of suicide,” alleged the deceased’s brother.

Bhol said that he had lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station after the death, even he requested the local police officials not to leave the family members from their home, but his request could not work out. Family members escaped from the house and Mahila police didn’t take interest in the case instead of helping the involved persons, he alleged.
