BHUBANESWAR:
The affected people of the Kanpur
dam and Brahmani River Pellet Limited (BRPL) on Monday demanded justice from
the State Government. In a press meet, affected people’s organisation Kendujhar
Banchao Abhiyan leaders said that the displaced people are yet to get full
compensation from the company.
The coordinator of the campaign
Pratap Sahu said the BRPL Company would use heavy amount of the Baitarani’s water
to transport its raw materials to Paradip through slurry pipe which not only
harmful for the farmers but also for the transporters and labourers who were
depending on the company.
They also pointed out that the
Government has increased the height of the dam at Keonjhar district to fulfill
the needs of water of the company which is affecting the farmlands of the
areas. “If the Government does not take immediate step to solve the problems of
the common people of the area, they would take it to the streets,” said Sahu.
