BHUBANESWAR:
The process for selection of State BJP chief has been started from Thursday. BJP
national general secretary Narendra Singh Tomar and party Odisha-in-charge
Santosh Gangwar, who were appointed as the Central Observers for the purpose, arrived
at the State office to discuss with the party leaders about the next State
president.
On the first day, the Central
Observers have started discussion with the party leaders about the appropriate
candidates for the post of the State president. They took opinions from the
executive body members in the central, State and district-level committees
regarding the selection of the right candidate.
According to the sources, Kanak
Vardhan Singhdeo, general secretary Basant Panda and Nayan Mohanty are on the
race for the president post.
While present State BJP president
Jual Oram said the president selection would be held in mutual understanding,
otherwise there would be election. The Central Observers also followed the same
principle to choose the candidate. They would finish the process within two
days and would submit the names before the Central Executive to single out the
name. “We would choose active workers, who can work for the party honestly,”
said Tomar.
It may be noted that the term of
Oram would be completed after a few days.
