Indian Meteorological Department holds ‘Users’ Meet’ to aware on weather


BHUBANESWAR: Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday conducted a seminar on ‘Users’ Meet Related to Weather Information’ to create awareness among the users’ of weather information here.
While inaugurating the seminar, chief guest of the function Commissioner-cum-secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management Department Raj Kumar Sharma said the State is improving day to day with modern technologies, which is used for weather forecasting and IMD is planning to fix GPS systems in 200 places in Odisha.
“Our purpose is to make aware the users including flood management engineers, port authority, coastal district collectors, tourism and fishery departments about the meteorological departments and its work. We want make the public and users’ aware about weather information, for which the meeting is arranged. They can give suggestions to the IMD for it’s improvement in future,” said Director-in-charge of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre SC Sahu.
Among others, Director General of Meteorology of IMD AVM Ajit Tyagi, DDGM of RMC Kolkata SN Roy, Southern RDC Laxmi Narayan Nayak and other scientists, meteorologists, engineers were present in the seminar.
