Smile Foundation’s success in remedial education


BHUBANESWAR: Mission Education funded Government High Schools have achieved great success in the field of education as the pass percentage of the schools under the project crosses 90 per cent in 2011. Mission Education Project is the brainchild of Smile Foundation and Jindal Stainless in the peripheral area of the company at Kalinganagar of Jajpur.

Programme officer Tapan Nayak of Smile Foundation said the project gives stress on remedial education. It helps in infrastructural development of the Government schools and empowers the students with skill development programmes. Two computer centers were established in this programme to boost the computer knowledge of the students. Under the project many programmes like different competitions, annual publications, prize distribution for the successful students, excursion etc to create competitive atmosphere for knowledge development among the students. Last year 734 students successfully passed in the HSC exam which is a great number than previous years result, he added.

“We have also arranged five remedial education centers in five nearby high schools for the students from economical weaker section who could not access to private tuitions,” Nayak said.
