ROURKELA: A
member of the ‘Pahadi Chita’ gang was killed in police encounter and another
member was arrested at Badagaon in Sundergarh district on Friday. Police seized
a pistol, a US-made gun and 10 live bullets near the encounter spot, police
sources said.
In the gun battle between the
police and the gang members, a gang member Deepak Sahu received grievous bullet
injuries and was admitted to the hospital. However, he died in the hospital while
his treatment was going on. A police constable also received injury in the fire
exchange.
On February 4, a similar
encounter was taken place between the police and the same gang at Satajuri area
under Talasara police station in which a member of the gang was killed.
According to the police, the anti-social group is involved in extortion, murder
and dacoit cases.
