67 labourers rescued in B’gir, 3 middlemen held



BALANGIR: Three middlemen from Belpada and Kantabanji area of Balangir district were arrested by the local police on Friday while taking 67 migrant labourers from these areas to Andhra Pradesh.

On a tip-off, the local police rushed to a few villages of Belapada and Kantabanji area and rescued the labourers while they were coming out of the village to go with the middlemen to the nearby railway station.

The police said the middlemen were taking the labourers to engage them in brick kilns in Andhra Pradesh. After getting proper information from the labourers, the police arrested middlemen Hrudananda Tandi, Sobhaban Tandi and Ajit Kumar Behera.
