--Security guard of deceased’s office draws murder plot

BHUBANESWAR: A 35-year-old youth from Bhubaneswar, who had gone missing since Saturday, was reportedly murdered in the Niali area of Cuttack district, said police sources on Wednesday.

The police arrested three persons including mastermind of the murder and seized an Indica car used in the crime from their possession.

The youth was identified as Gadadhar Behera of Athantar Balipatna in the outskirts of the city. He was working as an office assistant in a private software company in Nayapalli area in the city.

According to reports, family members of Behera had filed a missing report at the Nayapalli police station on Sunday after he didn’t return to home late on Saturday night.

Acting on the missing report, police investigated into the matter but found out later that he had been murdered. During the investigation, the special squad of the Commissionerate Police and the Nayapalli police found that security guard of Behera’s office Biswakalyan Pushpalak (26) hatched the murder plot.

Security guard Pushpalak confessed that he was in one-sided love with Behera’s wife. When Behera’s wife refused him twice, lovelorn Pushpalak became angry and started planning to kill Behera.

On January 18, the security guard kidnapped Behera from the city and subsequently murdered him in the city. After the murder, Pushpalak called his cousin brother Brundaban Padhi to help him out. Padhi came in an Indica car with its driver Chhabi Mallick to take Behera’s body.

The three took the body to Pushpalak’s village Madhab under the Niali police limit in Cuttack district and buried it behind his village house, said Nayapalli Inspector-in-charge K C Mund.

The Commisionerate Police along with scientific team reached the spot in Niali and located Behera’s body. In the presence of the police team, Pushpalak dug up and uncovered the body.
